The contents of Cervantes' representative work, 'Don Quixote' 25 of Dali's lithographs based on these will be exhibited.

'Don Quixote' is a work written by Cervantes in the 17th century, and is considered one of the pinnacles of Western literature. He described in the most cool-headed and in-depth way the inner self of a human being struggling between ideals and reality while experiencing personal despair in a state of national bankruptcy similar to the situation under the control of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) 400 years ago.

The events and repeated failures of Don Quixote, the crazy protagonist, are extremely bizarre. However, Don Quixote is a character who approaches his ideals without hesitation despite failure, and his struggle to keep his beliefs and realize his goals in life instills a spirit of constant challenge in life to those living in a difficult reality. is giving

In his Don Quixote print series, Dali also portrays him not as a reckless and unrealistic figure, but as a superman who does not give up on his ideals despite the gaze of those around him and repeated failures. Dali, who pursues a surrealist painting style that is eccentric and unique and mixes reality and fantasy, and calls himself a genius, transcends everyday life and captures sublime emotions that cannot be felt in life through the 'Don Quixote Print Series'. These are works that provide wisdom, courage, and inner reflection in these difficult economic conditions.

◆What kind of person is Salvador Dali (1904-1989)?= Born in Figueras, near Madrid, he is a representative surrealist artist who played a pioneering role in many trends that occurred in the late 20th century, including painting, film, objects, architecture, and installation art. Initially influenced by Cubism and metaphysical painting, he later turned to Surrealism and developed his own creative technique, the 'paranoid and critical method'.

Through the expression of his neurotic symptoms, he showed dreamy and fantastic expression techniques. Rather than symbolizing the unconscious, he ingeniously distorted and expressed his fantasy world using excellent realistic techniques. In his works, he created dual and deformed images and systematically expressed the 'chaos' of the real world by creating unrealistic spaces that destroyed the boundaries between genres and materials.

◆What works can I see?=The ‘Don Quixote Series’ completed by Dali from 1956 to 1958 will be exhibited. These are works created by firing a matchlock gun onto a stone slab. It was his friend, the painter Georges Matthieu, who gave him a high-quality 15th-century matchlock with an ivory stock. On November 6, 1956, a running ferryboat was placed on the Seine River in Paris, and a lead plate filled with lithographic ink was fired from it. From that bullet that was flattened after hitting the stone slab, the era of ‘bullet art techniques’ began. On the stone slab, sacred stains resembling angel wings appeared, and the dreamy yet dynamic expression, as if created by the wind, was something that could not be achieved using any technique until now. Bullet art techniques that maximized accidental effects later became popular throughout the world.

Meet Don Quixote through Art Dali's work created by firing a matchlock gun on a slab of stone maximizes the superhuman image of Don Quixote An exhibition of Don Quixote prints by Spanish master Salvador Dali will be held at the Yoon Gallery in Insa-dong from the 22nd to the 28th.
