Kim Jeong-ran's work, grounded in this critical awareness, seeks to express contemporary time and space through the foundation of Korean painting's identity. Through fluid linework and realistic depiction of figures, Kim faithfully embodies the traditional aesthetics of the Jeonshin (transmitted spirits) and Ihyeongsasin (transmitted spirits). Anatomical depictions and restrained use of space effectively reveal the inner workings and tension of the figures. The combination of repetitive figures and diverse spaces creates a contemporary picture that transcends time and space.

Ultimately, her work can be understood as an ongoing practice that explores the intersection between tradition and modernity and seeks to expand the identity of Korean painting.

Exhibition Period: Wednesday, March 4 – Sunday, March 15 Korean painting is a formative system formed over a long history; while grounded in the traditions of the Sinosphere, it is an art form that has developed independently through the Korean character and aesthetic sensibility.
